Interesting point, however examine their reaction after they "came back"

Armstrong, Aldrin and collin were almost depressed while sitting at the press conference table. they had no enthusiasm for what they had just accomplished. They couldn't answer if they saw stars from the moon's surface.

It's not necessarily a matter of threatening them to do it. They had already run all the "test missions" necessary to pull off the lie. They may have not physically had a choice until they were part of the corruption. Then it's a matter of "keep your mouth shut and be a hero" or bad things will happen to your family.

I just watched Capricorn One again last night. The most amazing aspect of that movie, is that it has NASA murder people and threaten the families of the astronauts. I'd imagine a moview would never be released with those details today. it was released just 5 years after the last moon landing.
