Winters Bone

Winters Bone

This is the best film I have seen this year.

It is courageous, consistent and utterly humourless, which is entirely fitting.

A view of American society that rarely makes it into the cinema, the US underclass in all its hopelessness and dreadfulness; do not look for a rose tinted ending, it is true to its narrative.

The breakdown of society, the replacement of humane kindred spirit and support by a code of silence and violence.

We have the same dreadful state of affairs in the UK, and it needs open debate and a sense of urgency to tackle it.

Worth your time.
