Billions, and billions and billions of Indian films

Posted by Victor Khomenko on February 28, 2012 at 09:42:58:

So far every Indian film that I have seen has been a piece of crap... my familiarity with them goes back... oh... almost 60 years. Sure enough there have been somewhat bright spots like Raj Kapoor with his Awaara, but generally speaking it was just a stream of silly syrup.

Why question now? Well, I was looking through the long list of Netflix foreign films, and noticed that almost 50% of them were Indian.

Now, I have known that India was top movie producer by volume, no surprise there, but the question is - has anyone seen a good one among them, and if anyone had any recommendations?
