'Dark Skies': You know the story....you've seen it all before......

But the Weinstein's think they can still get your money. Surprisingly, the first matinee was unusually crowded.

There are no spoilers to this movie especially if you have seen the trailers. If not, the very first screen is a quote from Arthur C. Clarke that gives it all away. Yep, those nasty grays are coming for your family.

While Spielberg may have thrown a whole lot more money at a stylized event this meager $30M vehicle uses a B-tier cast and the "current knowledge" of aliens, their methods, and their motives. This all comes down to execution of the facts and the story. It is pretty well done and actually offers some tension (not like Momma, though) and "education". The ever-present J.K. Simmons plays a well known gray fighter and he gives us an quick and concise run down of alien experiences with convincing gravitas.

Sure, this is a disk movie but you will be surprised at the number of people who will hike up their collars and slink quietly into the theater. Since I couldn't find a hooker for $5.75 I slinked on in myself.
