Bobby Duval: chews scenery w/aplomb; when you look past the tics and grin, there's nothing beneath it; what literally you see is his investiture in the character.
Sam Elliot: a caricature of manly.
Wilford Brimley: crotchety old guy you'd like to push out a window; if you're going to play gruff and wise old fart, it would be best to say something smarter than the average turnip.
