uh those 3-4 accounts of his own story conflict with each other and are directed more at the situation

...and at his intended target than as a serious "immortal character". That's a polite way of saying he's bullshitting during those scenes. But yes, I do like Dark Knight and Nolan, and Heath Ledger is good as joker. Too bad it was his last performance. There have been many better ones in the past 10 years. Javier Bardem as Anton Sigur is one bad-guy performance that puts Joker to shame. Of course I like the Coens' direction better than Nolan's.
