The Harder They Fall

Bogey's last film this deserves a look for sure. It is a social commentary on the bad side of boxing and it is excellent at it. Done in 1956 they actually address older retired punch drunk fighters that cannot take care of themselves and that often ended up on skid row.
Rod Steiger nails it as always as the bad guy mobster pulling the strings. The supporting cast includes two great boxers as well; Jersey Joe Walcott and Max Baer and they do well.
Bogey's character is torn between good and evil as he sells himself out from the onset as you'll see. This is good as a boxing movie, mob movie as well as the great social commentary contained throughout.
It's well done and holds up today in my opinion.
