Reviewers had pretty much already trashed the film. But I decided to watch it "on demand" for $5.99 over my FIOS connection.

The big reveal pretty much worked for me. Although I find the idea of multiple clones of the same person rather ..... unsatisfactory. But maybe that's just me.

Nonetheless I thought it plausible that invading aliens would clone certain key humans. That they might think to wipe the clones memories and then brainwash them into thinking that the real human survivors out there are really the remnant aliens from the great war, which earth won. all of it a fiction.

So it kind of worked for me. Kind of.

There was some very very good cgi in this flick. I'm a fan of "good" cgi. I don't think it got in the way of the story telling. Perhaps it helped to sell a rather simple plot line.

Considering the way this movie ends, there would seem to be room for a "what comes after" kind of sequel.

re: Tom Cruise.
For me, he's the least charismatic "A-list" actor of this time. imo. But he did not spoil it for me.

Her on-screen presence and super-babe hotness (like we saw in the film Hitman) seems to be evolving over the past few films. I wonder if Centurion wasn't a turning point for her. In this film, Oblivion, she is very lean and athletic in appearance. In fact she appears like she could run a mile no problem. Whomever did her make-up kept it sparse for this character. Even so, I suspect this actress may enjoy a decade or two of A-list participation. Always fun to watch, except for, perhaps, in Centurion.
