I've been reading George Martin's novels which served as the inspiration for this series....

....the series actually tries to follow the book plots as they can. They definitely do deviate with select characters but the premise is still there; a bunch of powerful families vying for power with sometimes fatal results for the losers. Add in a "supernatural" (?) threat from the North and overseas long-thought-to-be-dead dragons to make matters even more interesting.

No way Tyrion gets killed; he is too "interesting" a character to kill off.
