12 Years a Slave...

...the critics have been raving about this film, its realistic portrayal of slavery and Chiwetel Ejiofor's performance.
It is very well done, the actors are spectacular - Ejiofor should win an Oscar - and it's very believable (except for producer Brad Pitt's small part).
But...as depressing, brutal and relentless as the film is, it didn't really move me. It was as though I were watching a documentary from a distance.
I thought Gravity was a better film and more involving.
