I read two reviews...

...in the local newspapers.

One took it much like you did and gave it 2-1/2 stars liking the original better.

The second gave it 4 stars saying it had little in common with the first, but was really a morality play on the concept of using drones and robots to fight our wars/crime with no consciences or judgement and that this vision was fully realized in the film.
