Nymphomaniac Vol. 1 & 2 last night....creepy good??

Posted by Mark Man on March 21, 2014 at 08:15:07:

Lars von Trier puts you in situations that make you squirm in your seat...puts the camera places casual movie goers will walk out...

There were 4 scenes between the two movies...that I thought to myself, is he really putting me there???

Yet...it gives you "Tree of Life" art-house feel at times...
More male penis's EVER in a movie...could get best supporting actor (s)...

Shia LeBeouf....sucks...
Charlotte Gainsbourg, old Joe / Stacy Martin young Joe were both fully committed to their roles...wow...the transition in the story between the two actors was very believable, that they were the same person
Stellan Skarsgard, seems to be playing a character we have expected from him...

It is told in the "Interview of Vampire" flashback narrative style...
You have to see both movies to get the whole truly disturbing tale...

I went back when I finished the second movie and re-watched the beginning of the first movie, recognized themes and foreshadowing of the rollercoaster of art-house porn, the inequalities of what is socially acceptable sexually between men and women, unflinching malice trying to be a morality tale...

So...Watch at your own risk....
thanks
Mark

Ps. These were the first movies I ever did On Demand...the first movie starts in black screen with the sound up for so long, I fast forwarded to make sure something wasn't wrong with the movie...

The last 2 minutes of the second movie is done in same black screen, with just the sound to finish telling the story, (you know exactly what happens by the sound alone), but it also felt that Lars was stepping back and saying "I have beaten you up enough for 4 hours, you do not need to see this"

I was relieved by ending...
