RE: "The Stranger:" Satyajit's swan song and every bit as magnificent as Beethoven's last

Ray's movies show the Bengali culture of the West Bengal State who are known as very emotional and intellectual. The other states also have unique identities, like the maharashtrians of Bombay, the Gujeraties, Punjabies, Tamils of Madras, Kannadikas of Bangalore, Malayalees of Kerala (closest to Bengalies in lifestyle) and the cosmopolitan culture of Delhi. I wont understand the Bengali and a Calcutta guy dont understand my Malayalam. All different lifestyles, attitudes, music, religious practices. There are very good Directors of movies in these other languages who have won International awards but none as famous as Ray.There are better movies than Pather Panchali too but no subtitles!

I saw recently a new Bengali movie titled 'Mr&Mrs Iyer' which has subtitles in English. There is a version dubbed into English too. Very good modern theme. Worth watching.

Best Regards
Bill
