'The Lazarus Effect': More science than 'Young Frankenstein' . . .

and even more horror movie cliches than thought possible. If you go geared up for a scientific roller coaster, don't. This dim little film is based on sneak volume explosions designed to make you clear you seat. Cliche + volume = sheer terror. (Perhaps?)

No need to discuss the story: first with a pig, then a poochie, and finally with a girl friend. Something about dying, crossing over, and being yanked back that doesn't work for homo sapiens. I was surprised Olivia Wilde was in this one. She is the only movie-goer name that stands out. Those over-arching good looks are converted to sinister stares and ominous smiles...like Damien in Omen Uno.

One thing that short circuited my suspension of disbelief is that the whole movie basically took place in the lab. Blair Withc and the Paranormals have just ruined the horror genre. Get more from less. Make a film for $1393.23 and get back $200M.

If you like being in dim of a basement medical lab then you will probably hit your groove. Remember, you see the crescendos coming but they are loud and your Depends will be tested.
