My wife is a Jude Law fan so last night we rented "Black Sea".
Their submarine breaks down, needs a 'driveshaft' just so happens there's an abandoned sub sitting on the bottom nearby, so they put on their diving gear and walk over to it and remove its 'driveshaft' to use in their sub.
The prop used for these scenes is an automotive crankshaft, shown carried into their sub by hand and installed in an upside down automotive engine block. Then, without any main bearing caps installed the crankshaft is shown spinning as they get underway.
I can't believe that got past everyone involved in making that movie.
The last scene is equally preposterous but a potential spoiler.
I understand that liberties must be taken, but here a piece of pipe would have sufficed without attracting attention to such a gaff.
