'Spy': More than just McCarthy . . .

Posted by Billy Wonka on June 6, 2015 at 13:08:53:

McCarthy's shtick grew old fast for me so I have missed a few. This one is well-written and has plenty of talent throwing snappy lines around. Jude Law looks to be a perfect James Bond replacement until he sneezes. Jason Statham is hilarious as the very physical spy whose brain and mouth are stuck on "full boast", and Rose Byrne just looks sexy as the cold, bitchy, unhappy Bulgar who would be villain. Allison Janney, Miranda Hart play CIA support while Morena Baccarin provides a few glimpse of beauty and glamor in the background.

Well, can a frumpy, overweight CIA support officer go undercover and save the world? You know the answer.

This a mom and mother-in-law movie. Chuckles, laughs, and absolutely nothing worth discussing. McCarthy is always in quality productions and the cast was very nice. If you don't take yourself too seriously this would be a good one to beat the heat with.
