'Rogue Nation': Finally, a summer movie for the Big Kids . . .

Posted by Billy Wonka on July 31, 2015 at 15:02:32:

The MI formula is now so polished it is almost blinding. Near non-stop action, incredible stunts, hardly believable plots, and various shots of beauty.

Everything was spot on with Cruise providing the "face man" drama, Pegg the "humor relief", and the rest as bit players standing at the wayside. The exception to all this is Rebecca Ferguson who plays Ilsa Faust (irony in her name as you shall discern). She plays the mysterious young woman who saves then torments Hunt throughout the film. It seems she is a double agent playing for time against disloyal masters. (Ferguson has alluring yet modest English beauty despite being half Swedish.)

The range of stunts and their venues were thrilling on a more believable scale than the last film. You always wonder if that could happen in real life? (It does, I live it everyday.) One thing: Bad guys = Bad Marksmen.

One point: Is Hunt actually a patriotic priest?

Hold your chin up and pretend you are proud to see it. This is "our" summer movie and it will be worth it.
