'American Ultra': Is a fine documentary . . .

and a very entertaining action-packed, dramedy. Funny, serious, and a constant threat of violence make this a worthy post-summer walk-in. Lots of popcorn and cola will make it all better.

Mike (Eisenberg) is a stoner dude with a devoted girlfriend (Stewart)who both become involved in a CIA inner-circle operation that aims to eradicate all their Ultra-trained field agents at Yates' (Grace) order. Lasseter (Britton) activates Mike so he will be able to defend himself and defend he does--much to his own amazement.

Spills, chills, and a complete grocery list of weapons are employed the by the perpetually whiny super killer.

Eisenberg is a most unlikely candidate for a super killer because he always comes across as Eisenberg. That's one part of the scheme of humor. Topher Grace is the over-stepping, ambitious, bitchy-guy trying to claw himself to the top at the agency and his role is right down his alley.

If someone steps up to you and mumbles nonsense in you ear be careful...you might be a human time bomb.
