'Dirty Grandpa': More like FILTHY Grandpa . . .

Posted by Billy Wonka on January 22, 2016 at 20:07:10:

De Niro is on the cusp of earning the Danny Trejo Award for accepting any and all scripts no matter what. This is another fine example of Bobby picking up yet another check.

Grandma just died and at the funeral Grandpa pressures grandson (Effron) into driving him from Atlanta to Boca Raton for his annual golf trip. Once underway they encounter Effron's old photo lab partner from college and her really wild best friend who likes to makeout with old guys. Grandpa insists they chase (Plaza) the oversexed one while Effron starts to feel he doesn't need to be marrying his lawyer fiance. Much profainity, insanity, and a few big laughs ensue. This film is so heavy on the language I noticed two people walk out. It was getting close to my limit which is saying a lot.

De Niro is like watching Natalie Portman: The same limited number of looks and mugs used over and over. Well, I guess Effron's part of that crowd as well. Anyway, this was a filthy "college movie" as they do end up at Spring Break in Daytona Beach where the usual cinematic hijinks always happen.

There was a method in Grandpa's madness as Effron sees clear to make some significant life decisions.

Yep, there is funny stuff in the film other than De Niro's potty mouth but I don't recommend it for anyone. Yet, it's still not as offensive as 'The H8ful Eight'.
