having a bad day?

I was struck by your line about "I have no doubt politics or petty issues get in the way, consciously or subconsciously" . Ever hear the saying when you point your finger , three point back at you?

I bring up this only because of all the seeming ill will against the movie industry in your post, what's the deal? Did your girl run off with a projectionist?

The few 333333333industry people I come across are hard working, results driven people that often put in crazy hours to get the job done in all kinds of situations.

I wonder if there is the financial incentive for screens in your town to make your complaints about distribution of independent films reasonable. I live in the film industry area, and the movie you speak of had a very limited release, even today , two theaters play the thing, on a second release, same as the first time.

I went to some of the nominated films , crowds were never a problem. At the showing of free solo I attended, I was the only guy there, and that is a very good movie, I wish I had seen it in IMAX. I had to seek out the show houses that feature small films , not at a high overhead mall space.

I certainly don't have the track record to tell a guy how to live, but why not put on a smile and enjoy what the film industry provides. life is too short to make simple public entertainment into a personal problem. no matter how you feel about the quality, a simple entertainment is not that important.
