11'x26' available for HT/Music room Need advice Please.

I'll be helping my friend set up a room in his basement that will be used more for HT than music. He'll be using a 50" plazma and standmounts up front and the surrounds will be mounted on the wall. I'm looking for info on what would be the best dimentions to use? Does he want inwall sound deadoning or on wall? Everything will be dry walled and the floor will be carpeted. He's planning on sitting about 9' from the screen. If there's any other info I can provide that will help you help me. just ask.
