RE: HDMI vs. component cables?

IMO, component is "safer" compatibility wise, (no handshake issues) but HDMI is easier to install.
I have a 50' run of BJC Belden 7710 component cable in my main HT system; the stuff is the size of a 3/4" garden hose! Plus separate audio lines are needed.
Recently ran a single 50' HDMI cable (not BJC brand) from an Oppo DVD unit to a new Panny plasma in the bedroom...one smaller cable does it all, much easier.
