RE: Getting a new plasma or LCD projector...

The problem with your older LCD projector is resolution. I'll guess that the resolution is probably 600 x 800. Current production models are pushing the 1920 x 1080 pixel range. This holds true for plasmas, too, since the introduction of high def video software. Pixel counts are extremely high and speeds are improving quite dramatically (well, depending on the size of the screen!)
You may want to investigate newer models because the current models all have the HDMI inputs which certainly improves resolution and simplifies wiring. As for CRT projectors, you may want to forget about them as they are rapidly becoming dinosaurs. Service is being dropped and parts are rapidly disappearing. I wouldn't buy a CRT today, although, I will have to admit that the newer technologies are much more disposable as the prices continue to drop.
