Lossy audio + video here we come

If you read the article carefully, you'd notice that the article mentions how Pixar and others have kludged those fancy features into Blu-Ray 1.0--by including a complete second video track! I wonder if they need to use lossy compression to make it all fit? Kind of a waste to have 50 gigabyte media and just waste the space in this way, I think.
And FWIW, I do watch most of the bonus features. Some are just boring filler and kissing-up, but some, like the mini documentary of Terry Gilliam making "12 Monkeys" are pretty darned good glimpses of the director's state of mind. And in the non high-def world, Criterion is famous for the quality and depth of their extras.
