Possible to play hi-def video through an old XBR400?

Posted by Russell on October 10, 2007 at 16:35:12:

I have a 6-year-old direct-view 4:3 Sony 36" XBR400, which is supposedly HD-ready. It has component inputs (which I use for DVDs in progressive-scan mode) and it can supposedly handle a 1080i signal. Would I be able to connect a hi-def player, for example the budget Sony Blu-ray machine, and view Blu-ray discs through this TV? Just curious....
