Buy Sony not Samsung for Blue-ray.

The Blue-ray format is constantly changing (HD has a stable platform). If the manufacturer of a Blue-ray player does not provide timely firmware updates the player will quickly prove worthless. I purchased a Samsung 1200 unit last May. The player quickly stopped playing CDs and the firmware updates have been either non existent or useless. The support is a joke. I finally just gave up and bought a PS3 which has excellent support, timely updates, and does everything the 1200 does plus games. The unit sells for $500 in the current edition and now upscales DVDs to 1080p. I do not understand how a major electronics company like Samsung can stay in business if they do not support their products. Before you buy any Samsung products I would look at the posts on AVS Forum under Blue-ray players and compare the PS3 to any of the Samsung players listed.
