The New Years 2008 performance of "Hansel & Gretel" was...

...a superbly produced live HD Met broadcast. Lots of cameras, covering the on-stage/backstage activities, and the opera (in English) itself was fun, with the (IMO) sweet Humperdink score. I like the first act most, and was emotionally swept up in the pathos of this family drama-what could be more moving than a plot that surrounds the predicaments of hungry children, and sad, frustrated parents, and of course, evil witches? The sound was really good. I saw it at an AMC theater in So. Cal, with an opera crowd. They were quiet and polite throughout. Sorry I strayed off point...I would buy a BD or HDDVD of that quality of Grand opera (Met, mostly), as long as they weren't $35.00 per disc.
