You can get decent HT receivers starting around $200. They all seem to do a good job for HT. Take a trip to CC or BB, and check them out. Sonically, they all sound about the same, from the $200 units up to the $1500 or so units. The main difference is power output. The $200 ones will typically put out about 50-70W/C, which is enough for the typical HT setup.
