Recording material from Satellite DVR

Posted by "Ron B" on May 18, 2008 at 21:06:16:

Just a quick note to all. I need input and consideration concerning copyright - intellectual property rights, etc., etc. Is it illegal to copy material to DVD from a satellite DVR machine like say from Dish network? I don't think there is any difficulty recording material to a VCR, but would it be considered illegal to put this material on a DVD disc by way of recording? Are there any specific laws on the books as they say that speak to this issue? My only consideration here is to make a hard copy of a movie or program that could be viewed later or somewhere else or on another TV. Your thoughts would be most welcome. Thanks

Ron
