As I understand it, LCDs have gotten cheaper and easier to manufacture in the last couple years. Plasma is a funny market. The low end is increasing in quality and lowering in price while the high end is improving, but seems far less profitable. IIRC, even Pioneer is going to contract out their glass in the future. Sony got into plasma too late, abandoned LCOS (except for FP), so they are left with LCD. Hopefully, they will get better in time.
