Is the XBR4 worth it's premium $

Posted by ken crouch on July 21, 2008 at 19:38:36:

I've been driving myself crazy trying to figure out what set to buy as our first foray into HD. Our room is very bright - two story great room with one wall with double slider and two large windows low and three large windows at what would be the second story level- we have a fabulous view of the mountains and are not going to cover that up!

But---- what TV to get??? We love plasmas but realize that one of these probably is wrong for this room. We watch a lot of dark shows - both visually and thematically! Plus - it has to look good with our S8s!

The 52" XBR4 seems to have good reviews - a non-reflective screen and a good picture. But it comes at quite a price - even with a really good deal - just over 3K. Then there's the question of an extended warranty - you just can't cart one of these babies under your arm if there's a problem!

So - what's the consensus of the brilliant minds here? Please help an old lurker out of his quandry!

Thanks -
Ken
