DVD Recorder - High Def Question

I'm an audio guy, not a video guy so this is probably a stupid question, so I know I'm an idiot on this one.

So, here goes: I have an Over the Air antenna and watch a lot of PBS HD programs. Are there DVD recorders that will let me record the program in High Def? If so what do the cheapest models go for? I have been buying a lot of the HD DVDs and wondering if its cheaper to record them?
