NEVER mention Bose on this site

Posted by Brian A on October 21, 2008 at 09:24:01:

Bose is way overpriced for horribly distorted plastic trash. The only thing worst than Bose for a performance to cost ratio is Bang & Olufsen, they look better than Bose but cost at least 2X and sound, if it is possible, even worse.

One day I was walking through a Bose store and they had a music video playing. I didn't recognize the group's sound so I went up and looked at the screen. It was Fleetwood Mac, one of my favorite bands. The sound was so bad I actually didn't recognize the music which I have heard hundreds of times.

Their tiny speakers with the subs has a huge suckout in the male voice area that mangles the sound. And the subs have to go above 100Hz to try to fill in this hole so their sound is directional, meaning you must place it near the screen or you have a real sonic mess on your hands.

All you have to remember is, Bose Blows.

Skip the Klipsch's also. The horns are wonderfully efficient making them louder and better sounding when placed against another speaker. The problem is listening fatigue. The horn is set back further than the tweeters and woofers so it is delayed. I find they actually give me a headache as my brain is forced to "realign" the time differences in the various tones.
