Location, location, location. How far you sit from the screen determines so much. Take a look at the article at the end of the attached link. Around eight feet seems to be the dividing line. Over that, resolution is less important than screen size. Less than eight feet and resolution becomes more important. Ultimately you need to go look for yourself.
