Sony camcorder HDR SR11 improvements?
Posted by ulysses11 on February 3, 2009 at 16:33:55:
Hi guys,
In a former life I was a tube and vinyl addict and have now been reborn (from the ashes) to perhaps become a video aficionado...So as any newborn I have some rather naive questions that the experienced among you might be able to comment on:
A) I currently use a Sony camcorder HDR SR11 which has very good picture but terrible sound due to a low quality internal mic and mic preamp. Can anyone recommend a modification expert who could build a bypass switch into the camcorder to circumvent the mic preamp so a high quality device can feed into to camcorder without having to go through the preamp circuit. ( It does have an external mic jack).
B) Could anyone recommend the Sony PCM D1 or D50 for supplying the good sound (They have quality line outputs and good mics even though with 1/8'' mini jacks but I guess adapters should be attached allowing longer runs of XLR wires which I might need (the camcorder will be in the back and the PCM with its mics in front. I will be recording smaller classic and jazz ensembles live but hope to achieve the best quality of picture and sound or sound alone without being too conspicuous...
C) I burned a DVD with the Sony VRD MC5 from HD recordings from the HDR SR11 using the USB cable to convert HD into SD. This worked fine but when replaying the DVD on my PC 'Media Center' the picture look as if it skips a few frames every 5-10 secs. Any idea why?
C) Any recommendations on external home theater speakers? The tall and thin would be best for space reasons
Thanks for any ideas!
