Considering the current economics and direct sale marketing strategy that Oppo employs adding bang-for-buck versatility probably does factor into their decision on how to compete with the BIG boys.

Note: Blu-Ray Zone-locking is far less important than DVD region locking since Zone locking is decided on a case by case basis by the right's holder at the manufacturing end. So far it hasn't impacted many import BD titles.
