Another "dirt-heap DVD player" quesiton

Posted by Jim Austin on March 6, 2009 at 07:53:37:

Hi folks. My ultra-cheap DVD player died. I paid $39, it lasted 2 years. Not bad. But now I need a new one.

I respect people who care about video quality. I'm looking for only "OK". I was quite happy with my $39 player. I don't even remember the brand.

EXCEPT I wasn't happy with the horrible remote, and the fact that the codes it used were non-standard, so I had to use the horrible, cheap-*ssed remote. So I DO care about finding a player that will let me use a better remote than the remote that came with my cable box (which isn't terrible).

Let's say, under $100. Under $50 is better, but under $100 will do.

Recommendations?

Thanks,

Jim
