EAD theatre-vision of old vs. todays upsamplers?
Posted by audioman on June 15, 2009 at 07:51:33:
I am considering getting a combo DVD / CD player to put in with my higher end analog 2 channel stuff just to listen to the odd disc and watch a movie now and again.
I brought home an inexpensive DVD player from a local big-box just to check it out. Well, the video is good, but oh my gosh, the music is brutal !
Now I know todays DVD players have upsampling chips and HDMI and all that stuff, but would something like the EAD Theatre-Vision player, with it's standard component RGB outputs be a huge letdown visually? i know that the EAD will certainly play CD's and my guess is it would still trounce a new player musically.
Is this thing a dinosaur compared to even the cheapies, or will I be surprised. It certainly would have been built with much better parts anyway !
Your appreciated input is needed?
