RE: Are Plasma sets fading away in favor of LCD ?

Posted by jimmyjames on June 30, 2009 at 10:41:37:

Not Fade Away...Gone. Sony pulled the plug on their plasmas a few years ago, LCD RPTV's as well. Pioneer had the last "reference" plasma displays and they dropped them this year. Runco may still be brand labelling someone's plasma. I have a 6 year old Sony 60" 720 LCD RPTV and my father in law has a 1 yr old Visio 46" LCD that's not calibrated and may not even be 1920x1080 but it looks damn good with HD satellite feed. Makes my Sony look a little soft in comparison. Bought a 40" samsung LCD 720 for the bedroom and it looks just OK. The Pioneer plasmas looked stunning at the local dealer. Gone now. I don't know what I would buy right this second if I was to replace the Sony. Must have at least 60" but want 70".
