Use component video or convert to HDMI to hook old processor/DVD player to new TV ???

I'm replacing my current "living room" surround processor and DVD player with a new processor and BluRay.

I want to move my old gear into my "audio" room and put a new tv on the wall there. The tv will be about 20' from the processor/DVD player, and I want to keep the cabling simple and clean, so my preference is for a single run of HDMI cable. As I understand it, that requires that I buy a converter to translate my component video output into a digital signal. I can buy a converter at Parts Express for about $100.

My questions: Am I better off simply buying a 20' Component video cable? It will be clumsier and uglier, but my concern is that I end up with a clean picture.

If I go wiht a converter, is the Parts Express converter any good, or are there other recommendations??

Any suggestions about these or any other issues that may accompany this project are much appreciated. Thanks!
