Settings for Oppo BDP-83SE

I wonder if anyone knows a quick fix for my problem. I seem to get a more lively flushed out picture on High DEF cable channels than watching Blue Rays with my Oppo. The colors seem less vivid even though the picture is clear. Is it just a simple setting like letting the Pioneer Kuro 60M do the 1080P or letting the Oppo do it. Thanks for any help.
