RE: Giving up on my Denon universal player.

Posted by jbufka2 on October 3, 2010 at 18:35:10:

Same problem with an earlier Denon 2900. I was really pissed off at the time because I spent damn near $1,000 on the player and only got a couple years of light use since I mostly listened to CD's on a separate transport/converter set-up. I decided instead of giving Denon any more of my money to fix the thing I would just by the Oppo DV-980H, which was $169.00 at the time. While the Denon might have sound a little bit better, and I mean very little, the Oppo beat it hands down on the video because of the 1080P upsampling. The Oppo is still playing flawless to this day while the Denon sits in the closet collecting dust. To make matters worse. About a year ago I have a few extra bucks and decide to send the Denon in for repair. I go through the process of requesting a RMA on line at Denon's website and they never processed my request. So heck with them, the Denon is just going to stay in the closet until I decide to throw the dumb thing out.
