Need Help with 2 Channel System - but Dolby Surround Input
Posted by Mel on September 10, 2011 at 09:39:04:
I'm not sure this is the best forum for this question, but here goes:
For years I have fed the Toslink output of an over-the-air set top box to my Lavry DAC with beautiful results. I have recently switched to FIOS cable and the output of their Motorola box is only a Dolby Digital surround signal which my DAC cannot recognize. Apparently FIOS doctors the box so that this is the only digital output possible.
Is there a reasonably priced reasonably performing DAC that I can use to go from the Dolby Digital signal to my two channel system? Or, better still, is there a box that can accept the toslink digital surround signal and output the clean two channel PCM signal my DAC can recognize? Coming from a two channel world I'm completely at a loss.
Thanks for any suggestions.
