As mentioned, the Firefox browser add-on extensions are your best choice. There is no bloatware in FireFox add-ons. There are hundreds of add-on extensions available for downloading YouTube videos. You can try or install as many as you want. I have tested many and use three.
convert2mp3.net YouTube2MP3 Converter let you either download just the mp3 (audio) or the mp4 (video).

FlashGot works on almost every website (including YouTube) whereas the 2 above are YouTube specific.

I would also install the Adblock Plus extension which will prevent the timed ads from running inside YouTube videos.
