Dead center channel on Onkyo TX-NR616

Posted by eduardoo on September 23, 2018 at 21:03:50:

Just discovered that the center channel is dead on the Onkyo TX-NR616 I've been using for several years. Checked connections, wiring and the center channel and they all seem fine. There's no sound coming from the center channel even in calibration / Audessey setup mode. I even reset the amp once with the CBL/SAT button + power button routine. The thing is that everything was fine the last time I watched a movie with it, and nothing much happened in between.

Is there anything else I should try before giving up?
If I give up, is it worth fixing, or is it a better choice to get a cheap current breed receiver (such as Onkyo 373 or Pioneer 531) to replace it instead?

Thanks.
