I wish they would make a docu-series about the Hillside Strangler(s). It involved one and eventually two serial killers in LA. There were I believe nine murders before they were apprehended. One of them (Bianchi) claimed he had multiple personality disorder (now called dissociative identity disorder). One of the experts for the prosecution thought he was faking, but a defense expert has continued to believe for the last 40 years that Bianchi had DID. Of interest, Bianchi had a faked college degree that he used to practice as a psychologist.
There was a terrible movie about this case released in 2004.
Follow Ups:
I'm sure there will be one on the Hillside Duo. BTK, our local guy here in KS, is the looming presence in the "Mindhunter."
"I'll Be Gone in the Dark," the HBO mini-series about the Golden State Killer is supposed to be the best of this genre. I ain't seen it yet not being an HBO subscriber.
Mrs. Nasty and I started this and watched the first 2 epis (out of 6). For some reason we quit and I eventually erased the other 4 from the DVR. We should probably revisit it one day. I'm sure it wasn't dislike that caused us to quit watching, just probably something else came along.....

there was something that prevented us from going past Epi 2.

But for a documentary on a serial killer, McNamara's story/obsession just detracted from the "plot" of what could have been a better case story.
A too many course meal when meat and spuds would suffice.
