This grew on me as I watched it. I see it as an anthem to confused, mid-life guys who just don't understand what happened to their marriage or life. In this case, Will Arnett stumbles into stand-up comedy because he didn't have enough cash for the club's cover charge. He slowly warms to it and begins to reveal his life to a regular audience. "Truth in humor."

Laura Dern, the wife, puts on a strong and willing face as they split up and continues the facade until...

There is an interesting cameo by a well-known sports figure, which proved amusing. Also, nice moments from Ciaran Hinds and Christine Ebersole as Will's Mom and Dad.

Bradley Cooper has his own style of direction which quickly shows in this film. This is worth a trip to the multiplex. Enjoy the laughs, cringes, embarrassments, and maturation of the characters.
