It is worth it but only for the performances of Timothee Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan, cinematography and music score. Personally, I thought the direction was a little disjointed and sometimes made the movie hard to follow. After watching the 2019 version, I was curious about other versions so after watching the other trailers I decided to give the Winona Ryder version a go and I gotta say that although I haven't finished it yet... I do think that I prefer this earlier version. Not sure that I will bother with the 1933 or 1949 versions... As much as I like Katherine Hepburn and George Cukor it just didn't look promising. June Allyson as Jo March and Elizabeth Taylor with blonde hair....I don't think so!

Gerwig was walking a very worn path. I think, posted on August 20, 2020 at 18:19:53

she did a wonderful job in making this "old" story speak to a younger generation. The energy level was wonderful.

I liked the 1994 version better, posted on August 18, 2020 at 00:53:37

which had a wonderful cast with Winona. Trini Alverado as Meg is a great beauty. The sisters and the mother do look like a family. The direction is compact and controlled unlike the new version. Have not seen the K Hepburn and E Taylor versions.

Cheers
Bill

Ditto - the bouncing timelines in the latest version were flighty too...N/t, posted on August 18, 2020 at 08:56:44
