For my own edification, I will have to give this one a hearty "Meh". Why would they even make a film like this? Typecasting? Is Russel's piggy bank getting low?

If you like violence projected onto everyday real life then this is for you. Too many cliches.

When it hits cable, just remember "meh".

least, that's the impression many of their films give of their land. Roving bands of serial killers/violent criminals--- and then all those lethal creatures, from ants to spiders to snakes to crocs...

Well looking at the media will often paint an awful picture. You are right Australia looks like a Mad Max country but in truth it's one of the best places in the world to live and travel and they have one of the highest life expediencies in the world.

I lived there for a year and a couple years ago vacationed in Melbourne. You should definitely make the trip.

Here are the top ten highest life expectancy countries.

Will be get to know such a vast country and its variety of people? I love Australia because Don Bradman and Rod Laver are my all time favorite heroes. And of course I love Masterchef and all those who take part in it. I also love the Sydney Opera House. But to judge a country better I need to go mingle with the people.

There are many reasons why that measure is largely meaningless.

I think we all should move to Russia. My FIL, having spent most of his life there, lived to almost 104.

My father, who also spent most of his there, is now 103, with perfectly clear mind.

My MIL is a very active 95 yo woman.

So forget all those numbers... perhaps it is the shitty Russian food and lack of proper medical case that make all the difference!

Well... I am sure vodka plays its role too.

BTW - absolutely nothing against Australia - never been there, but I love what I know about it.

I keep the Australian movies in very high regard - unlike their American counterparts. We watched two Australian movies recently, and they were both above average.

Americans are very large mammals who eat a constant trainload of crap that brings their average down. The Japanese tend not too - which brings their average up. An American who eats well and has moderate exercise (and doesn't smoke) will have a better "chance" to live into their 80s.

These are statistical averages not guarantees. Countries and cities where people walk instead of sticking their lard ass in a car to go 1 block is what makes them healthier on average.

As for your forget all those numbers comment - why? These are statistical averages not anecdotes. Well my grandma lived to 108 blah blah so that proves that statistical averages are BS.

Yes there are lots of reasons why a person would live longer "on average" in Japan. Better food, better healthcare, better social programs, more exercise, better sex, better infant mortality, more walking, cleaner, less crime, less murder rates. All things that will help you live longer than if you live in Flint Michigan.

In some countries life expectancy is heavily affected by negative life style. Here, in the US, if you just avoid 4-5 things that have negative effect, you will improve you life expectancy far more, than moving to another country.

Yes - the moving to another country part is the video advertising aspect but I suspect the numbers are the numbers. Culturally some countries do various things that on average are healthier. If Americans adopted those habits they would may also live as long.

Having been to Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand most of these tend to be walking focused. Fish over red meat - vegetables over bread and French fries - far less portion sizes - green tea and water over Coca-Cola. Not as much buffet.

Americans and Canadians who avoid this stuff will be healthier and should exceed the averages. But remember these are still averages - I am sure lots of Japanese drop dead at 35 from stress or bad luck just like anywhere else.

And COVID will mess up all these numbers anyway.
