Oh yeah, dark, moody, tense, this story of a young girl, who loses her mother, must grow her own self in an Alpine area where she has no real friends or people she can rely on. Albrun is befriended by Swinda who relieves some of the loneliness in her life. After Albrun receives her mother's decorated skull from the local priest, she becomes attached to it and begins to draw strength from it.

Filmed in glorious B&W with subtitles, this film will split audiences down the middle. The tedious, slow pace will either entrance or bore viewers. The dark imagery will intrigue or puzzle. The film does give an idea of how awful life was in the 1400s before the Rennaisance.

Well acted and deliberate, I enjoyed it as a prequel to 'The VVitch'.

Prime with subtitles.

It drifts in and out . . . it leaves the impression of B&W. *, posted on September 6, 2020 at 12:55:05

One of the most disturbing films I have seen. Aleksandra Cwen gives one hell of a performance. nt, posted on September 8, 2020 at 11:57:08

It might as well have been in B&W.

Its color is subtle and adds really nice gentle touch. Like an orange-lit window in the otherwise B&W landscape.

Speaking as someone who loves slow pace and is a real sucker for beautiful cinematography, this one is a monumental waste of time. So insignificant, I forgot I was supposed to finish watching it... there were still about 30 minutes remaining, so I just had to do it, kind of like washing dirty dishes after a boring party - a true piece of crap on your bliny.

Your cinematic tastes come from tin cans of anachronism. Olde is not classy, it's just old.
